If they’re going to address global challenges to come, our future leaders must be given hands-on experience today.
At Hiroshima Jogakuin University‘s Global Studies Peace and Leadership Summer Seminar, students from around the world embark on a journey through Asia. Starting with a one week Peace Seminar and home-stays in Japan, the experience culminates in a ten day service learning project with partnering NGOs based in Asia, where students explore their relationship within an interconnected world while fostering the skills needed to become global citizens.
In 2012, the groups completed fieldwork throughout Japan, India and Thailand, giving our team an opportunity to capture their evolving perspectives and insights. In 2013, we extended our work with HJU by returning to Japan, and traveling with a new group of extraordinary young women to Cambodia and the Philippines. These stories are helping HJU’s team recruit new students and resources for next summers program.
