Invention and Innovation: Social Entrepreneurs Creating Impact
Behind every social innovation is a person who recognized a problem and created a solution which forever changes the lives of their community members.
In 2006, Ashoka and The Lemelson Foundation launched a partnership to help these social innovators scale their solutions more rapidly than ever before. Together, they’ve invested in over one hundred leading invention entrepreneurs from developing countries. These Ashoka-Lemelson Fellows share resources, learn, and grow through a curated support network, creating greater impact on the communities they serve.
During the summer of 2013, we created this series of case studies to articulate the value and success of the Ashoka-Lemelson partnership by exploring social innovation through the context of invention.
